Subsiding

I suppose it’s too early to be declaring my new approach to emotional states a confirmed success, but I have to say results are more promising than I expected.

This past week I gave myself permission to feel good and think of positive outcomes. Played music ranging from mellow and pleasant to cheerful and exciting. Caught myself when I was slipping into daydream states focused on negative scenarios and thought of positive scenarios instead.

And it seems to be working. The past few days have been the most pleasant I’ve had in a while. Anxiety is still there, running like a river beneath my day-to-day existence – but for this past week it’s felt like the water levels are dropping and the flow is slowing.
