Fortifying & Energizing Via Music

Music has turned out to be my most helpful coping strategy this year. Unlike walking, it’s not dependent on the weather.

Sometimes the right song can help you fortify and keep putting one foot in front of another, or give you a burst of energy when you need it.

I wanted to share a bunch of songs that I’ve found can have this fortifying/energizing effect for me. (Obviously musical tastes are highly subjective and results will vary.)

There are a bunch of styles and artists and eras represented. The majority have lyrics, some are instrumental. I’d describe the emotional resonance as ranging from bittersweet to truly epic.

Maybe you’ll recognize something, maybe if you’re bored and looking for something new, you’ll find it here. (All of these should be available via youtube & spotify, probably elsewhere.)

AURORA – Running with the Wolves
AURORA, Atella – Ascension

Be The Bear – Erupt
Be The Bear – Mermaid
Be The Bear, GOLDHOUSE – Ruler

Bon Jovi – It’s My Life

David Guetta – Titanium (ft. Sia)

Enya – Book of Days
Enya – Caribbean Blue
Enya – Cursum Perficio

Felix Cartal – New Scene (ft. Ofelia) – original mix

Imagine Dragons – Whatever It Takes

Kerli – Blossom

Laura Brehm – Don’t Wait

Music Super Circus – Made Of (ft. Jonathan Johansson)

nervous_testpilot – Triumph

Oceanlab – On A Good Day (this one inspired my blog’s title)

Ruelle – Live Like Legends

Telepopmusik, Angela McCluskey – Breathe

Tom Petty – I Won’t Back Down

Twisted Jukebox – Angels Will Rise

Viktoria Modesta – Prototype

Vince Staples, Richie Kohan – Home

VNV Nation – Nova (Shine A Light On Me)

Within Temptation – Stand My Ground

Yann Tiersen – La valse d’Amelie

And a special section to recommend Two Steps From Hell / Thomas Bergersen:

The following songs from TSFH are a handful of personal favorites, but they have a lot of epic, energizing instrumental music that’s worth checking out, if you haven’t already.

Flight of the Silverbird
Heart of Courage
Never Back Down
